seven ± two

The magical number seven, plus or minus two, refers to the capacity of our short-term memory.

Sometimes I post about science & literature & culture & whatnot.

But mostly, pictures of puppies, babies, and food and other random things that nobody else would care about will be posted ad nauseam.
Sorry.

You can holler at me here: sevenplusminustwo@gmail.com

I have another, wordier tumblr here.

I also post really awesome things with some snarky, sexy ladies over here.

my uncle just created a facebook profile for his 8-yr-old son so we can talk to each other online

and so i can finally stop crying to his father about how his son is going to grow up and forget all about me [they moved to florida 6 years ago or so] and how i used to babysit for him and play with him on the back porch and make him squeal and giggle in such a way that even our cantankerous old neighbors would smile at us when they saw us and how one time when we were playing computer games together on pbs.org when he was like 4 years old and we were there for hours and then i left while he was taking his bath without saying goodbye and his mother told me that he came out and looked for me and was very sad that i had left without saying goodbye, and i shed numerous tears over it.

There are seriously so many other pictures I could have chosen of this kid but this is my favorite photo of him ever and I am starting to freak the hell out because I don’t really remember the details behind the story anymore.

Glee Cast - Imagine

Okay, I try really hard not to listen to the tracks before the episode airs… but this is Imagine, you guys! And you know what? It’s good.

One day, I will stop reblogging/uploading Glee songs. One day..

Thanksgiving 2009

Ha, it says a lot, volumes, TOMES even, about me that for the Thanksgiving-esque dinner I am forcing my immediate family to have with me this year, the only items on the menu I am sure about thus far are the desserts.

That’s right. Desserts. I am attempting to make another pumpkin pie. This time, I will intentionally leave it unsweetened for all the diabetics in the family. And while I was picking up the crust and the filling, I saw a box of Pillsbury Quick Bread for pumpkin bread. Obviously, I had to get it. And then for some reason, I bought a shortbread crust and some strawberry filling, thinking of the package of cream cheese I already have in the fridge so at some point this weekend, I think I’ll be making some strawberry cheesecake as well… ?

But I also picked up the things I need to make some goat cheese mashies w/ coffee gravy because you know for damned sure that as soon as I saw the ingredients for that dish I was like: ME WANTS IT.

So there you go.

Thanksgiving 2009 menu:

  • goat cheese mashed potatoes with coffee gravy
  • pumpkin bread
  • pumpkin pie
  • some green things
  • some sort of meat thing
    • my mom’s pork chops are quite nommy so I might make her make them - I mean, this was never going to be a traditional Thanksgiving dinner anyway, so why the heck not?

Ha. Nice, right?
